Designed to Keep Your Wrens Safe and Secure
The HomePro Garden wren house has a sloped roof to keep the rain out and make sure to keep the inside of the house nice and dry. They were designed with no perch since they are known to make it too easy for predators to access the nest.
When hanging your house, choose a branch that is sturdy enough to support it securely. The house should be nestled in the safety of the tree’s branches. Select a location that is close enough to the center to be sheltered from extreme weather, but still able to swing gently in the breeze.
A small hole is drilled in the bottom of the house for drainage in the case any rain does make it inside. The base of the birdhouse is attached with 2 screws and can be easily removed with a Phillips head screwdriver for cleaning.
It is recommended to clean the birdhouse each season, preferably in the autumn months, when there is no activity.
A small triangle shaped ventilation hole is located in the back of the house to keep the air flowing freely.
This prevents the house from overheating during warmer days and provides good air circulation for the nesting birds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I read somewhere that plastic can get too hot for nesting birds. Is this also true for your bird houses?
A: No. The material is actually a poly-lumber made from a recycled composition of plastic, pop bottles, and other recycled materials. It does not heat up the way traditional plastic does & is perfectly safe for the birds. However, when choosing a location, partial sun and shade is always best.
Q: How do you open the wrenhouse for cleaning?
A: The bottom is removable for cleaning with a Phillips Head screwdriver. The easiest way to do this is to remove a single screw and loosen the second; then swing the bottom over to clean out any old nesting material. You can also remove the entire base if needed.
Q: I haven’t seen any wrens yet. Do they not like the house?
A: If the wrens haven’t started nesting in your house yet, it might be one of the following reasons.
- The time of year: Wrens will only make their nests in the early spring. You can hang your wren house at any time of year, but it needs to be in place by the very early spring, so the male wrens see it when they are scouting locations.
- The wrens might not be sure about the location of the house. See this article for more tips on finding the best place to hang your wren house.
- You may not have wrens visiting your backyard yet. To make your yard even more enticing, you can add a meal-worm bird feeder, a favorite of the house wren!
To help your nesting birds feel safe, make sure there is plenty of food, safety, and shelter near the location. If you provide all three, you can attract more birds to your yard and keep them feeling safe and secure enough to raise their young.
Q: Will the wrens return year after year?
A: Yes, quite often, the wrens will return to the same house year every year. Many of our customers have remarked that their wren families have come back the following spring.
